A New Song
A New Song
When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us; We are glad. Restore our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126 NASB Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 NKJV He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3 NLT Is there a unhappy song within you? Have your instruments of rejoicing been boxed up and put away? Have the words now inscribed upon your heart been written with the pen of sadness? The Psalmist tells us “For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.” What you are now walking through will not always be. The sun is on the horizon and the light of a new dawn will appear. The Lord is the healer of the broken hearted, and the redeemer of the things that have been taken away. He places the garment of praise upon us, and brings to us the radiance of His countenance. For many years Sarah carried the sadness of being without child. Yet, when all seemed impossible, she conceived. When Isaac was born, Sarah proclaimed, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me.” (Genesis 21:6 NLT). The promise of hope the Lord has spoken to your heart will not fail. The Spirit of the Lord will write a new song deep within you. His song is a song of praise to your God. It is a song of consolation, for He is the Spirit of comfort; a song of encouragement, for He is the Spirit of hope; a song of restoration for He is the Spirit of healing; a song of gladness, for He is the Spirit of joy. There will be laughter, rejoicing, shouts of joy, and rivers of happiness. You will once again play upon the instruments of praise and gladness of heart. All this will He do, and more, even beyond anything you could have thought possible. Lift up the light of Your countenance upon (me), O Lord! You have put gladness in my heart. Psalm 4:6-7 NKJV
