Default Getting Through Christmas

GETTING THROUGH CHRISTMAS

Its that time of year they call Christmas cheer
Now as I recall I drank wine and beer
Indulging myself with all laid to offer
I use to drink up, Only later to suffer

Something seems different to me in this season
I guess cuz I'm straight that must be the reason
Be even though straight I feel out of place
Isolating myself, in my own little space

Just want to stay home away from it all
In prior years past I'd be having a ball
But as I sit home admiring my tree
I realize this year, that "hey" I've got me

When I sit and think about how it was then
I cannot believe how stupid I'd been
Snorting and drinking with all that would dare
For myself, I now know, that I did not care

Now that I'm clean, my eyes are much clearer
This holiday season, I can look in the mirror
It will be tough, but I will get through
And thank God above, to myself I was true

Thank God for the meetings, the people I've met
Without them I know, I would sit here and fret
But I don't have to, anymore, no sir ree
Cuz now I am thinking that I like the new me.

Victoria
