Live and Let Live

To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.

When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

Concentrate on this sentence... 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

There comes a point in your life when you realize:

Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will.
So, don't worry about people from your past,
There's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

This is actually a quote from a chain letter I received and posted on one of my old sites, February 2010. I could identify with it when I look at my life and my relationship with the addict(s) in my life. I have to remember to turn them over to their Higher Power.

It talks about doing something I never did before. What I was never able to do before recovery was to live my own life and let them live theirs.

Shared with a friend who called me today, because of her worry about her son and her grandchildren and how his addiction will affect them over the holiday.

I reminded her of our powerlessness over our sons (my own in active addiction) and all we could do was pray and turn them over to THEIR God.

Not everyone has the same belief and not everyone goes to the same church, that is, if they go to church; but that doesn't mean that the program won't work for them.
