James 2:14 - 14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?

November 14

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 1 Peter 3:18

I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:2

Romans 10:4 - 4 For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.

November 15

Trouble and anguish have overtaken me, Yet Your commandments are my delights. Psalm 119:143

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! Psalm 139:17-18

Psalm 125:1 - 1 Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

Hebrews 13:8 — Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

When your past comes to haunt you, turn your thoughts around and thank God for past blessings. His care for you in days gone by is far greater than any perils or problems, and His redemption is deeper than any regret. When a current distress torments you, turn it into prayer and praise, and thank God for promising to never leave you nor forsake you. Whenever you're tempted to fret about tomorrow, start praising Him for the eternal nature of His love, for a future just as bright as His promises. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever — and so are His grace, peace, sovereignty, fellowship, joy, power, wisdom and love. He gives His blessings in bundles — yesterday, today and forever — so our gratitude should be eternal.

November 16

Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law. Psalm 119:18

How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! Psalm 116:5

1 Corinthians 10:13 - 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 — ...give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

There are many challenging things that happen in life for which we don't naturally, even supernaturally, feel thankful. But when we consider that God is our Father, that he knows the number of hairs on our head (Luke 12:7) and that the days of our life are planned ahead by him (Psalm 139:16) — it stands to reason that there are no accidents with God. We know that God is able to use even difficult things in life for our good (Romans 8:28), to conform us to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). If you have a hard time thanking Him for something that happens, do the next best thing: ask Him to show you how

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous - how well I know it. Psalm 139:14

Habakkuk 2:3 - 3 This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

November 19

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1-2

And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you. Psalm 39:7

2 Corinthians 4:17 - 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

Psalm 16:8 — I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

2 Corinthians 3:16-17 — But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

November 21

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, 1 Corinthians 1:4-5

He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:2

1 Timothy 5:3-4 - 3 Take care of any widow who has no one else to care for her. 4 But if she has children or grandchildren, their first responsibility is to show godliness at home and repay their parents by taking care of them. This is something that pleases God.

Isaiah 40:6-8 —

A voice says, "Cry out."
And I said, "What shall I cry?"
"All people are like grass,
and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the Lord blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever."

People are compared here to grass and flowers that wither away. We are mortal, but God's Word is eternal and unfailing. Public opinion changes and is unreliable, but God's Word is constant. Only in God's eternal Word will we find lasting solutions to our problems and needs.

Proverbs 20:24 — A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?

We are often confused by the events around us. Many things we will never understand; others will fall into place in years to come as we look back and see how God was working. This proverb counsels us not to worry if we don't understand everything as it happens. Instead, we should trust that God knows what he's doing, even if his timing or design is not clear to us.

November 22

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:5

2 Corinthians 7:1 - 1 Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.

Colossians 4:2 — Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

November 23

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5

I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. Psalm 130:5

Galatians 6:1 - 1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

Hebrews 12:15 — See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

November 24

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7

We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. Psalm 33:20

1 Corinthians 15:22 - 22 Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.

Psalm 119:113-114 —

I hate double-minded people,
but I love your law.
You are my refuge and my shield;
I have put my hope in your word.

Double-minded people cannot make up their minds between good and evil. But when it comes to obeying God, there is no middle ground — you must take a stand. Either you are obeying him or you are not. Either you are doing what he wants or you are undecided. Choose to obey God, and say with the psalmist, "I love your law."

November 25

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God Philippians 1:3

Galations 2:20 - 20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 5:8-10 — For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.
