Keeping Up
All of us after we join recovery will need to quit our stubborn rebellion of wanting to hold on to things the way they were. All of us have been trying to find comfort in striving for something that's not there, the past. It's over now. It had its purpose, but it's over now, and it's time for all of us to move along. All of us who are trying to live in the past are catering to what this problem wants us to do. This keeps us from being able to change so that we can recover and begin to grow again. All of us need to learn how to live in the now to do that. This is something that's part of living life. It's something that's going on all around us, it's been happening before any of us got here and will continue long after we're all gone. Us not to be part of the now is how all of us have been missing out on life. Us trying to find comfort in the way things used to be, is like us being like a spoiled child who always has to have things their way. Recovery teaches all of us how we can find comfort in living in the now by being able to be adaptable to whatever is next, and that there's no need for any of us to be afraid of that, whatever it may be. That life is good, and it is worth living, and it will always be continuing to change. All of us in recovery can learn how we can live in the now and keep up with this ever changing life without any of us having to be afraid of this.
