Default Truly Satisfied

God's Word For Today

Truly Satisfied

Read Matthew 1:1 through 4:25

Dean, nineteen, was stuck in traffic while making deliveries for a small bakery. He turned on the radio but discovered it didn’t work. Bored, he reached for the booklet his boss, Mr. Connor, placed in every order to share his faith in Christ. Mr. Connor wanted everyone to know that true satisfaction comes only by responding to the gospel. Dean was touched by Mr. Connor’s message. When he returned to the bakery, he held up the booklet and told his boss, “I need this kind of satisfaction.” Mr. Connor smiled and said, “Let’s talk.”

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4).

God created our bodies to run on the power that food provides. But human beings have deeper needs that food doesn’t fill—like the need for a full and satisfying relationship with God. When people “consume” God’s message of salvation through Jesus Christ, their spiritual lives truly begin. Afterward, they can feast on His Word daily to help them grow and develop as sons or daughters of God!

Challenge for Today: Have you eaten at God’s table lately?

Quicklook: Matthew 4:1–11
