Default I Can’t!

God's Word For Today

I Can’t!

Read Luke 9:1 through 10:42

He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd” (Luke 9:13).

The disciples were being good ministry leaders. People had listened to Jesus all day, and the disciples knew hunger pangs were hitting—and when five thousand men have growling stomachs, it can’t be ignored! So the practical disciples came up with a logical solution: Send everyone home for dinner. But Jesus said, “You feed them.” His response must have shocked the disciples.

Why would Jesus say that? He knew the disciples had no resources. His solution to the problem was impossible for them to accomplish.

Has God ever asked someone to do something that seemed impossible? Sometimes God directs His people to do things that seem impossible so they’ll cry out to Him, “But, Lord, I can’t! I can’t lead a ministry! I can’t forgive my in-laws! I can’t love that person!”

When we realize we have a problem we can’t solve, God steps in and provides amazing solutions.

Thought for Today: Nothing is too hard for God.

Quicklook: Luke 9:10–17
