Personal Retreat
My awareness of God grows in the Silence. In my spiritual practice, I may need to move away from the crowd and find time alone with God. Whether I go to a formal retreat center, take a walk in nature, or create a few hours of quiet time at home, I find solace in my time with God. I let this be my retreat from the activities of the world, a time to cleanse my mind and be nurtured by Spirit. In the Silence, I find a place of serenity where I know the Truth—the spirit of God dwells in me. In the midst of my personal retreat, my awareness of God is magnified. I affirm God’s power, I am enfolded by God’s love, and I am guided by God’s light. Refreshed and renewed, I return to my activities with joy and enthusiasm. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.—Psalm 62:1 Daily Word

In my medication cards, there is a retreat card that reminds me to take a time out, connect with my God, instead of playing into someone else's game(s), role playing, and go within to find your own truth. What do your instincts say? If you are walking with your God, you will know. If you don't know, it is not time to engage or move forward. To find your own truth, you need to let go of any barriers, limiting thoughts, and though it is good to listen to others, you need to look at what is good for you. It may work for them, but not work for me. What works for me, may no longer serve it's purpose in today or work for someone else. I never know until I try, I know that I wouldn't have stayed sober if it hadn't been for the meetings I attended for the first 10 years of my life, and the meeting that I have gone to because of service, online and meetings in jail, and I still go to AA and Al-Anon, when I am able and when needed. I need that willingness to do what I need to do for my own recovery, no one else can do it for me.
Just taking time out, taking an inventory, look at where I am going, looking at where I am heading, and what I need to change, nurture, and accept in today. Me alone with me is bad company. I don't retreat to do nothing, but make a connection with my God and bring Him into the equations. As it says, Wait on the Lord. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrnzbGpQaLc
