Not far away

You are not that far away from where you want to be. You are only a single decision, a single instant, a single positive action away from the direction you wish to go.

Whatever you seek is within reach. What you must do, is reach.

You will always be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you make progress. Just go ahead and get started.

Learn from all that has brought you to this point. Be thankful for the wisdom, the experience, the strength and the purposeful sense of determination it has all given you.

Then point that determination in a positive direction, and go. Go with gusto, go with enthusiasm and the greatest of expectations along the path that is already in front of you.

Right now, right here, you are not that far away. Step up and make the journey, for you deserve it.

— Ralph Marston

Wishes and actions

Do you wish you had done certain things differently in the past? Going forward, you have the power to make those wishes come true.

There are times when you wish you had been more diligent, more disciplined, more considerate, or any number of things. Though there is nothing you can do about what has already happened, there is everything you can do about what will now take place.

Whatever you’ve wished you had done, this is your chance to do it. This is your opportunity to turn regrets into action.

You don’t have to create any more painful wishes about how life might have been. You can take the actions that will create the life you wish to live.

Take all those wishes about the past and transfer their energy into purposeful actions in the present. Enjoy making life happen the way you choose.

This is your day, filled with great possibilities. This is your moment to stop wishing and start living.

How great it feels

Remember how great it feels to make a difference? Remember how great it feels to set a goal and then to get it done?

Remember how powerful it feels to be faced with a difficult challenge and to work your way through that challenge. Remember how warm and good and right it feels to know you’ve been of real help to others.

Remind yourself of the power and effectiveness of your own actions. Remind yourself of how far you can go just by making the commitment to do so.

Remember all these things, and let those positive memories ignite your passion. Remember all the good you’ve done, and then look for opportunities to make more great memories.

That wonderful feeling of achievement is already within you, stronger now than ever before. Use this day to give it new expression.

Remember how great it feels to make the effort and to make it count. Remember to make more great memories of achievement right now.

With every choice

Every choice you make, makes a difference. Remember always to use that power wisely.

Every moment you live provides you with opportunity. Transform that opportunity into meaningful value in your own unique way.

You have immense power over the quality of your life and the shape of your world. That power is exercised in the choices you make.

When you live with positive purpose, a positive attitude and positive expectations, you’ll make positive, life-enriching choices. Those choices will reliably create a life of great fulfillment.

What you think, what you feel, what you say and what you do all matter very much. In every moment, with every choice, you move your life in a specific direction.

Make the commitment to always make that direction a good and meaningful one. Choose wisely, and live magnificently.

Allow and accept

Allow the beauty and allow the challenge. Allow the frustration and allow the joy.

Allow the time and people and places and events to come into your life. And allow them to go peacefully on their way.

Allow the ideas, the actions, the creative thoughts and even the disconcerting ones. Accept what happens, and accept that there’s a positive way forward no matter what.

Accept the praise and the criticism of others, allowing yourself to grow stronger and more compassionate as a result. Allow yourself to be inspired and energized by life as it is, however it may be.

Allow the certainty, the confusion, the harmony and the dissonance. Allow what you love and what you do not yet love.

Allow yourself to be, in this unique and magnificent moment. Feel the full power of existence, feel the goodness that is possible, and allow it to come to life.

— Ralph Marston

At peace with the moment

Frustration is caused by wanting to be where you are not, or to do what you are not doing, or to stop what you are already doing. Enjoy where you are and what you’re doing, and frustration is no more.

Of course it goes against your grain to enjoy something you’ve decided is not enjoyable. But it is not as hard as you might think.

Would you prefer to be frustrated, anxious and inefficient, or would you rather choose to enjoy the moment? Do you want your attitude to work against you, or would you like your attitude to work in your favor?

Can you find it within yourself to be at peace with the moment, with the situation, with the task at hand? Of course you can.

Let your choices, rather than habitual reactions, determine your state of mind. Let yourself be your best by letting go of the need to fight against whatever is going on.

Express your high standards not by getting frustrated, but by getting peacefully and purposefully busy. Be at peace with the moment, and enable yourself to live it at your best.

You deserve a great tomorrow

You deserve to look forward to tomorrow with eager anticipation. What will make you able to do so are the actions you take today.

You deserve a great tomorrow, and you have the opportunity to earn it today. With your priorities and your actions, you can make use of today so everything falls into place for a rewarding and fulfilling tomorrow.

The good thing is, you can enjoy yourself today while putting in the focused effort that will produce a great tomorrow. Knowing that you’re headed in a positive direction is enough to improve whatever situation you’re in.

Tomorrow is not that far away, and now is your chance to fill its moments with precisely the kind of life you envision. Realize the power of the opportunity you have, and make full use of that opportunity while you can.

The direction you choose right now will determine where you are when tomorrow arrives. The things you do on this day can give great value to the life you live tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be great. Today is a great day to make it so.

Gift of achievement

There is a gift you can give yourself at any time, in any place, that will make you feel great. It is the gift of achievement.

Nothing feels quite the same as making the effort that results in achievement. When you make that effort, and reach that achievement, it helps not only you, but the whole world as well.

Achievements can be big, spread over many years and requiring thousands of people. Or they can be much smaller, taking only a few minutes and yet making a real difference.

Yet no matter what size the achievement may be, it always feels great to make a difference. And no matter what situation you are in, there is always a way to make that positive difference.

You can give yourself, and your world, the gift of achievement right now. The more you do so, the more richness and fulfillment you’ll experience.

At its very core, life is about making a difference. Now is a great time to give to yourself, and to everyone else, the gift of achievement.

Where to start

Are you not sure where to start? The place to start is where you are.

Are you having trouble deciding on the first step to take? Just pick a step, take it, and you’ll suddenly be in a much better position to know what must be done next.

Instead of waiting and wondering, speculating and procrastinating, worrying and making excuses, just go ahead and start. Put your time and energy into moving forward.

You may not get it exactly right at first, in fact you probably won’t. Yet even if you make some initial mistakes, that’s a whole lot better than doing nothing.

Start where you are, and go from there. Start where you are, and discover how much you enjoy the effort.

The best way to know what to do next is by doing what you can do now. This is where to start, so do.

How to keep going

How do you keep going when things get rough? The same way you keep going when things are good, by simply choosing to do it.

The particular conditions of the moment are not that much of a factor. What really matters is the story you are telling yourself.

When you decide to keep going, you will. When you tell yourself that you can, you can.

Life can sometimes be discouraging, with each effort painful and each moment full of difficulty. Yet you can choose to see that difficulty as a stronger reason than ever before to keep going.

If for no other reason, you can keep going just to get some distance beyond where you are now. You can keep going because it’s what you’ve done for a long time, and you’re actually very good at it.

The way to keep going is to keep reminding yourself that you’re independent of any conditions you may face. You can keep going, because that is what you have chosen to do.

Let it all motivate you

The way to be highly motivated is not to go out and look for things to motivate you. The way to be highly motivated is to let everything motivate you.

Be motivated by the defeats as well as the victories. Be motivated by the challenges and difficulties just as much as you’re motivated by the positive possibilities.

When you hear encouraging news, be motivated. When someone gives you discouraging news, be just as motivated.

Your level of motivation does not depend on what happens. It depends on the way you choose to respond.

Choose to respond with a sense of positive and meaningful motivation. No matter what happens or fails to happen, let it motivate you to reach higher and to create new value.

You cannot know everything that will fill this day, yet you can choose right now what to do with it. Let it all motivate you to make the efforts that will make it all even better.

Activate your energy

Tell yourself, right now, that you’re going to live this day with a high level of positive energy. Remind yourself, right now, that you don’t have to let anything make you sluggish or hesitant.

Let the comments, dramas and situations come and go as they will. Through it all, offer your own enthusiastic energy to life.

This is a day to make real progress in a meaningful direction. This is a day to engage yourself with your best possibilities.

Though others may sit around nurturing their doubts and dreaming up excuses, you have much better things to do. You have the energy and the willingness to make good things happen.

It’s nice when you get encouragement and validation from others for what you’re doing, but not an absolute necessity. You can activate your energy and move forward even when there’s no one there to urge you on.

This very day offers all kinds of great rewards. Put your energy into living this day and earn yourself the best of those rewards.

Always a new way

There’s always a new way to appreciate life. There’s always a new way to be helpful to others.

No matter how much you’ve seen or done, there are always new things to experience. No matter how much you’ve achieved, there are always new ways to create value.

There are new problems to be solved and new beauty to be enjoyed. There are new people to meet and new ways to enrich the relationships you already have.

There are new and more compelling ways to express what you’ve always known. There are new ways to give your love to those you’ve always loved.

There is never any reason to be bored or complacent or unmotivated. Every moment offers the possibility of living life in new and more satisfying ways.

There’s always a new way to make this a great day. In this moment, life begins again, so live it with the fresh, new enthusiasm it deserves.

Beyond the limitations

The world does not persecute you so much as you would think. Anything that holds you back is assisted in great part by your own imagination, or lack thereof.

Imagine for a while that the barriers are not there. Imagine what you could do if you stepped outside your current assumptions.

The more you focus on what holds you back, the more it holds you back. Imagine being free of the limitations and suddenly, in a very real way, you are.

The energy of your mind has great power. Apply that energy in a positive direction.

Visualize life beyond the limitations. You won’t erase those limitations, yet you can make them far less significant, and much less confining.

Seeing that something is possible, makes it possible for you. Imagine life beyond the limitations, and go do what you have imagined.

Purpose you cannot deny

The thing that will keep you focused is not a strategy or technique or condition. What will keep you focused, and disciplined, and committed, is a purpose you cannot deny.

If you’re serving a purpose that isn’t really your purpose, you’ll easily be distracted from it. Yet when you follow a purpose that lives at your very core, nothing can pull you away from it.

Focus is not about trying hard. Focus is about living true.

Great achievement demands great effort. A clear, authentic purpose is what will drive that effort, and make it feel like no effort at all.

Be honest with life, be honest with others and, most of all, be honest with yourself. It is an unwavering commitment to truth and openness that enables you to connect to the power of your purpose.

Live the purpose that lives at your heart. And live with richness in every moment.
