Welcome Ev, we do this one day at a time. Thank you for sharing, hope you make it back to share more with us.
There is a lot of recovery material here, check out "Other Addctions" which can often take us back to our drug of choice. My drug of choice was 'more' and yet there always seemed to be something new or something that haddened crossed my path and I told myself that I just HAD to try it. I had no defense against that thought until I came to recovery and had the spiritual strength to say "No," I don't want to go there, I know where it leads. Just for today I choose not to use. I know it isn't the substance, I know the problem is me. That was how it was for me. The program worked when I worked for the program.

Welcome, Everett! That is the whole key--to never give up!!!! You will begin to realize that you are really happier when sober and without the fickle and destructive alcohol in your life!!!
Keep coming back and reading and sharing!

Welcome and hello Everett. I'm new here too, just signed up today. Really want to get alcohol out of my life, once and for all. Today is my 1st day sober in quite some time. I'm so afraid I'm not going to ever be free of it, so that's why I'm here, and seeking support.

It is said that it is a day by day battle. If needed I sometimes break that down to a hour by hour fight. All I need to do is not drink for one hour. Then do it again. This seems like a very positive resource and I think if we utilize it and keep our focus success can be had. Nice to meet you and hope to help and get help. Stay stong

Welcome KobyKat, congratulation on your one day. I had a sponsor who has narcolepsy and she said, "for me it is 3 seconds at a time, because she never knew when she was going to go into a seizure. For me, it was being in the moment, knowing everything is subject to change, this too shall pass, be it good times or not so good times. Just for today, I choose not to pick up, no matter what. I asked for help in the morning and gave thanks at night, even if I didn't know who I was asking. I later build a strong relationship with the God of my understand, and He was as He revealed Himself to me in today.
Glad to see you are still coming back Everett. A lot of material here to help you both.
