There are lots of significant steps we all take along the way that go into making up what recovery is to all of us, and none more so than the completion of our first year in recovery. Because this holds the key to the future for all of us. Very few of us ever think when we start out that we can make it in recovery, let alone being able to be in it for an entire year. All of us reach an important milestone when we've all been able to do this because it proves that recovery is possible for all of us for the rest of our lives. In that first year we all come to know a lot of things for sure, and some of them are, that we don't have to know everything, and that no one really does, and that none of us ever have to be alone again, that there will always be someone there for us, and in time we all choose that for ourselves. As our recovery starts to roll by for all of us it becomes less important about what we all do know, and more about where we've all been. In our first year recovery where all of us have had to go through all that life could throw at us, and we've all made it through to the other side of all that, and we all now know one thing for sure now, that no matter what life may hold for all of us in the future, that all of us will still be able to make it in recovery.
