Being in recovery is based on our own choice; we're the only ones that can make that choice for ourselves. Still, it's hard to decide if we should give up everything we know and try something new, or stick with what we know isn't working. Once we've reached this point it will become easier to make our choice if we use these guidelines. Any choice based on what others will think about us is foolish, and any choice based on what's best for us is wise. Knowing this it's still sometimes hard to choose wisely especially when our loyalty to others has become so strong, stronger than it is to ourselves. Remember our life is not anyone else's responsibility it's our, and for us to base our choice about joining recovery on what they will think about us is a foolish thing to do. There's only one reason we'll ever need to join recovery and that is to save our own ass, and it will be wise if we do.
