One of the hardest things to get used to when we're new is the sharing that goes on in the recovery meetings. For some it's a very different way to communicate one that we're not very experienced in. Our participation and interaction at meetings is crucial to our own recovery and is usually supported and encouraged by most recovery groups. Our fear of sharing can be very strong, preventing us from being able to do so. It can help us if we know how to share, we share our experience, strength and hope. If we stay within these guidelines when we share we will be helping others and ourselves. There is also a different kind of sharing that goes on outside of the meeting setting: that's when we share directly one on one with someone else. This is also important for us to do as well. The more we become comfortable with sharing the more the sense of belonging will become overwhelming.
