When newcomers we all try using identification as a means of trying to figure out if we have this, it's really the only way. Unfortunately, this can be very tricky because there are so many different ways in which our problem plays out on the outside that if we're not careful we can very easily identify ourselves right out of recovery. If we look at the problem from the inside we'll have a better chance at being successful at using identification as a way of identifying with it. That's because on the inside the problem is the same for all of us. Once we peel back all those different outside layers and look at the problem as it is seen on the inside, the core problem is the same for us all, and that's being powerless. Even though it does play out differently on the outside, on the inside it is always the same for all who have this.
