Somewhere along the line before our recovery we all had stopped trying for our own self improvement. Usually this is because we don't think we need any, or because we just didn't care for things like that any more. What ends up happening to all of us after we stop trying is eventually we'll be forced into seeking out self improvement for ourselves or die. Recovery supports our need for self improvement and because we practice it daily we'll continue to grow and because we do this makes living much more enjoyable than it was before for us. No longer are we trying to avoid mistakes but use them as a way of improving ourselves. This makes a whole lot more sense than the way we were living before. As long as we can say what can I learn from this then we'll be much better off than when we had stopped trying.
