Opening Up
Opening Up
If God seems far away from you, ask yourself if you have given him the opportunity to come close. Is there something in you that prevents you from opening up to his presence? Opening up to God's presence begins with the belief that you are loved, that God actually takes a delight in being with you. Opening up to God would mean to admit your faults and failures, to ask pardon for them and to believe that you are loved in spite of them. Opening up to God's presence would include an awareness that he is already within you, within everyone and everything that surrounds you, and that he waits for you to make this discovery. Our opening up to God makes his closeness apparent to us. The experience begins whenever we make the decision to allow it to happen. The next time you seem far away, Lord, I'll ask myself how open I am to receive you. And if I can find no cause in myself for your apparent absence, then I will simply believe that you are with me in the darkness. Focus Your Day
