Small Straws In A Soft Wind - January

January 1: I had been praying for direction for the new year when I looked out my window to see the number 73 etched in the landscape in my view. I had never seen that before, and believed it was a sign from the Lord. In my research for the meaning of that number I found that 73 is a powerful and positive sign. It signifies spiritual growth, personal development, and creativity. When I looked again to see the number in the landscape it was no longer there, and I knew it was the supernatural answer to my prayer. So, let us look forward to a new and productive year. Ephesians 3:14-21 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height--to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled will all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

January 2: You will have a tendency to get overwhelmed with all that needs to be done to get on board with the new year. You must take one thing at a time, one day at a time to reorient yourself and settle in. Be kind to yourself and others in this process. Ephesians 5:31-32 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

January 3: Set your heart to be the best version of yourself you can be. When you make mistakes, fix what you can, and remember that you do not have to kick yourself around the block. It is your heart and intentions that count. And, you will be rewarded for your effort to make things right, says the Lord. Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

January 4: To those who have been under a great deal of stress and tension, you must set your heart and mind to purposefully relax. The strain is not good for you emotionally, mentally or spiritually. Release your concerns by putting your trust in Me, says the Lord. I will direct your steps. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

January 5: We are in a new year, a new cycle. It will be full of challenges and opportunities to put the word of God into practice. We will have plenty of chances to succeed or to fail; to walk in the Spirit or live in the flesh. We will either grow because of our experience or we can give up. Every day is a new day; begin with a clean slate. Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.

January 6: For those who have been anxious about what could or might happen in the future, put your faith in Me to help you navigate every challenge. You can overcome your worst fears knowing that I am for you and with you in all things, says the Lord. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

January 7: Procrastination is your enemy that fills you with dread and causes you to be anxious. You must set your will to do what needs to be done today and every day. Do not put off until tomorrow what you can accomplish today. Ask for help, and I will help you, says the Lord. Proverbs 21:25-26 The desire of the lazy man kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. January 8 Put your faith in action, not only through prayer, but by truly believing that I hear and answer your prayers, says the Lord. It is faith that opens the door for you to receive. Refuse to allow difficult circumstances to override your trust in Me. Mark 9:23 If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

JANUARY 9: Do not be disheartened if others do not appreciate your efforts. What you do is not because of them; it is because I have called you to be all you can be and to do all that you do, says the Lord. Revelation 22:12-13 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

January 10: You are living in complicated times with intricate issues both worldly and personally. Refuse to allow the enemy to convince you that you are stupid. Ask Me, says the Lord, and I will bring clarity to every tangled and complex matter. Proverbs 2:6-8 For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.

January 11: As you leave the past behind, set your heart and focus on where you are now and where you are going. Grab hold of faith and hope for your future, and take your first steps in accomplishing better things. Never forget that I am with you always. John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

January 12: Beloved, it is My desire that you would reach a level of being habitually conscious of My Spirit. That is to walk and live in the Spirit and never deviate from being one with Me, says the Lord. This will take deliberate effort and determination in the beginning, but if you persist it will become as natural as breathing. John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

January 13: When you find that you are wearing thin, take some time for yourself to rejuvenate. Be kind to yourself, and give yourself a break. Put all of your worries away until you can see yourself as I see you, says the Lord. Remember that I am with you always. January 14: There are things that you have put off doing that need to be done. Now is the time to take the proverbial bull by the horns, put dread aside, and get started. Procrastination is not a good look for you. Proverbs 24:33-34 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest; so shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like an armed man.

January 15: Take the next step in your progression. It may be a small step, but still significant in not getting stuck. Keep moving and growing in strength and grace, and be sure to give others the benefit of the doubt. Exercise respect and spiritual poise, says the Lord. Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
