just me
Hi my name is Tammy. I'm not sure how this works. Its my first time seeking help from fellow friends in recovery. Thank GOD this is here. I've gotten down because I've desperately tried to connect with sober people for guidance. To no avail
I haven't been able to get rides to mtgs I'm familiar with the 12 steps. I need the help of good sober friends!! I'm 7 months sober. Thank u for being here. |

Hey, Tammy. Where are you from? Are there any meetings?
Familiar with the 12 steps is not good enough. We have to act. Go to meetings, find a sponsor and start DOING the Steps. Quote:

Hi Tammy,
Welcome to our community. I am so glad you found us. We are a group of people that support and encourage one another in recovery. Congratulations on 7 months!! That's fantastic. Have you tried contacting your local AA Intergroup. If you contact them they may be able to help with finding meetings and transportation to get to them. Here at the site there are many forums packed with tons of information and members sharing our experience, strength and hope. I always start my day with reading the Daily Recovery reading and meditations: http://www.bluidkiti.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1 Then I head over to our Daily Check-In forum and catch up on what is going on with our members that post (you may want to start your own thread): http://www.bluidkiti.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8 I encourage you to browse the different forums and post frequently. You will find lots of support. Again, welcome!!

Welcome Tammy !! you have come to the right place and will find all the strength hope and experience here that you are searching for, but like the others have said we have to have contact with others face to face with sponsorship, meetings, and working and sharing with others. For me it all about living this life out in the real world where I touch, feel, see and smell and experience the new life. I was just on line, just going to meetings and just getting what I put into it....but after going back out I realized I had to have more and that there had to be more sooo I came back and I am getting more and more each day as I surrender to the program and how others have done it.... pray'n that you find meetings, sponsor. rides etc. as I put my recovery first all thes other things come but I have to seek it with all of my heart and want it more than anything in the world. help is out there and there are people near you who would love to help you give you rides etc. cuz that is how they keep what they have by giving it away. with Gos all things are possible who knows someone can even give you a car, may live two doors down the street God is like that he does far more than we could ever think or even imagine pray....pray...have faith and believe God has your best interest in mind and will provide your every need but faith without working is a dead faith....have a great day! Tammy and keep coming back it is worth it and it just keeps getting better and better one day at a time.... congrats on the seven months there is others who need your help out there so go share your strength, hope, and experience with them .

Dear Friends thanks so much for the encouragement!! Since my last post I was determined to connect with members I've known from mtgs I've been to in past attempts at sobriety... I've gotten ahold of some pretty great women, found a sponsor and have a definite ride to 2 mtgs a week. Your posts lit a fire under my butt. I am eternally grateful to those who offered a hand when I'm reaching out for help. But I still need all of u daily. (And lots of suggestions). I read the daily readings. Big help! I'm still new and don't know how to work the site
Is there a way to actually chat with a sober member when I have No one else for help? Thanx |

Glad you are still coming back. Click on the heading of an area that you are interested in, and check out posts new and old. I learned by hitting the wrong buttons, there are just some techie things that escape me, and I am lost, but I keep trying. It took me a year to learn to copy, cut, and paste, and now I know there are about 5 ways to do it.
We didn`t get this way overnight, so it stands to reason, that we don`t get better over night. The program isn`t a quick fix, it is a way of living. I picked up my first drink at 10 (a glass of communion wine that I stole), was put on Valium by my doctor at 16, and had my last drink at 49, in August 1991. So I used for 39 years, and here I am with 22 years of recovery, still needing the program, one day at a time. In today, I choose not to use and abuse myself and other people, places, and things. Thank you for sharing.
