Look To What Is Unseen
Look To What Is Unseen
Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. —Colossians 3:12 When you pray for other people, it may seem that they get worse before they get better. The devil wants to discourage you from believing that God is answering your prayers. The apostle Paul said that he learned not to be discouraged even when going through terrible trials. He said to look to the things that are unseen, not to the things that are seen (See 2 Corinthians 4:18). Keep believing, and the power of the Holy Spirit will fill you with joy and peace until you are overflowing with hope (See Romans 15:13). Always trust God to answer your prayers. From the book Starting Your Day Right: Devotions for Each Morning of the Year by Joyce Meyer.

As my sponsor said, "If you have recovery, show it!"
Who am I to know what God wants for others? Who am I to judge God by what I see when He sees the whole picture? All I can do is pray that they get what they need, according to God's Will. Maybe the person has a lesson to learn, or maybe they are not willing to do what they need in order to recover. The willingness to work and live the program is necessary in order to stay clean and sober. When that willingness isn't there, then I had to pray for it. Not just about my sobriety, but about all areas of my life. Some things are just there and I am powerless over them, yet when I surrender them to my God, I am empowered to help myself. If I don't do the do things, how can I ever hope to recover. My God has preformed miracles, considering that I am alive is a miracle in and of itself. I used because of my pain, just for today, I don't have to go there. I have had the pain for many years and using helped cover the pain up and mask it. In today, I live in reality, it sometimes sucks, but that is life! My God is there to see me through it, if I reach out and ask for the good orderly direction I need for today.
