Topic of the week, words that begin with "D"
D is for Danger. Anger is dangerous to our recovery. I had to learn to deal with it in a healthy way. Even if it is justifiable anger, that doesn't make it right. It is dangerous, especially when it is directed at others, but even more so when directed at myself.

D is for Dumb. I was looking all over for this section and couldn't find it. Just because I feel dumb, doesn't mean I am. A guy said to me in early recovery, Jo you may be a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. I was always beating myself up and calling myself names and never gave myself any slack. No one beat me up more than I did myself, even though I was in two abusive marriages and had parents who were mentally, emotionally, and my mother was some times physically abusive.

D is for Develop. Develop our God given talents. They have been hidden under the layers of addiction, bring them into the light and let them shine.
Develop a relationship with your Higher Power. He will guide you in all that you need and want to do. The Good Orderly Direction will show you the way. Develop a new sense of self. You are beautiful, you are worthy, you are a Child of God.

D is for Detachment. It doesn't mean we don't love them, it is because we do that we detach. It doesn't mean to have nothing to do with them, although sometimes we do have to stay out of their lives. it is about not taking on their stuff and stop enabling them. We can't get involved in their life and we can't take their stuff on and quit taking things personally.

D is for Down. Don't look down on yourself, you are a child of God who is loved. Get down and get busy, getting out of self, helping someone else who also feelings down, with bring you both up!
