Default Be Content

Be Content

Read Hebrews 13:1–25

Do you need a big house, big car, and big salary to be content in life? Many people today are discontented with the things they possess and feel if only they had this thing or that thing they would be content. Society has proclaimed that bigger is better, and many have bought into that philosophy.

The writer of Hebrews exhorts us to walk in enjoyment, freedom, and contentment because of all that God has done for us (Hebrews 13:5). The ambition to seek temporary things over the eternal will always lead to a downfall. The enemy of your soul will try to steal your contentment by tempting you to compare yourself and your possessions with others and their possessions.

Learn to be content with what you have and rejoice in all that God has provided for you. Walking in contentment is being confident to know Christ is with you, He is for you, and He will never leave you. Be quick to share how God has blessed you, and learn to rejoice with others as they are blessed. And be content for it is pleasing to the Lord.

Challenge for Today: Examine your heart to see if you spend time seeking earthly treasures more than eternal treasures.

Quicklook:Hebrews 13:1–6

The solution for me was prayer and meditation. When the emotions and stress comes up, it is good to stop, not run away with them, but taking time to connect with my God. That spiritual connection has been what keeps me clean and sober and I can be at peace and content inside no matter what is going around me, if I pause, reconnect. My anger, pride, vanity, resentments, etc. can break that connection, so it is always better to let go and let my God.
