Default Let Go!

God's Word For Today

Let Go!

Read: Genesis 34:1 through 36:43; Matthew 10:1–31

When the unkempt man approached their car where Mark pumped gas, Angela sighed. She saw Mark pull out his wallet and hand the man some cash. The stranger sauntered away.

When Mark climbed into the car, Angela burst out, “Well, how much did you give him?”

“Twenty,” Mark replied.

Angela sighed. “Why do you give money away when we have so many needs?”

Mark said, “Because God’s blessing us with income, and I felt He wanted me to share from what we have.”

“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give” (Matthew 10:8).

Giving freely doesn’t apply only to money. It also applies to time, talents, and resources. Giving is actually an act of faith. When someone asks for help, people can tightly grasp what they have, fearing no more will come. Or they can give, knowing that God will replenish. Even the most generous people cannot outgive God.

Challenge for Today: Do something generous for someone.

Quicklook: Matthew 10:5–10
