Default Why We're Here

None of us could ever see ourselves as being part of anything; we're all loners, that's why none of us could ever see ourselves joining recovery. Rarely do we see anyone who wants to be here in recovery. Most of us have had to be beaten up pretty badly before we'd even consider such nonsense as this, what we find here in recovery. Most of us walked straight out the door never wanting to return, at least not until things get worse, and some of us won't make it back, and will end up dying from this problem. There's nothing recovery can do about any of this, and recovery is only for those of us who want it. We're here because we want to be here. All of us with this problem are free to come and go as we please, no one is ever going to make any of us stay here in recovery, or hold against our own will. All of us have to choose to be here in recovery and some of us won't, and the difference between the two comes down to us wanting to save ourselves, and we don't have to wait for things to get worse before we do this all of us can start recovery now by asking ourselves this, am I willing to risk losing everything including my own life because of me having this problem and not wanting to do anything about having it ? If we're willing to say yes to this then we're not ready to be here in recovery, and that's too bad for all of us who say yes, because what's waiting for all of us out there is never any good and we're not willing to save ourselves. No one else will ever be able to do this for us. We have to be willing to do that for ourselves, then and only then will any of us be able to be ready to be here in recovery and save ourselves.
