Topic of the week, words beginning with the letter "Y"

Y is for Yet. If your drinking and drugging hasn't taken you there yet, continue using and you will find yourself there. Addiction and alcoholism are progressive diseases. What ever way you look at it, the drug is but a symptom of our disease, they problem is you. It was for me. When I gave up the alcohol, a lot of other things came up, like an eating disorder, a Nevada Ticket and other lottery addictions, computer, and an addiction to be busy, so busy helping others, being a caretaker, and not taking care of myself.

Y is for You're Special

You're special! There is nobody like you. No one has your handwriting, your taste in food, clothing, music, or art. You're the only one who has your set of abilities, your combination of talents, ideas, abilities, and feelings. No one will ever look, talk, walk, think, or do like you. You're Special...You're rare. And in all rarity there is a great value. Because of your great value you need not attempt to imitate others...you will accept---yes, celebrate your differences. You're Special!

Y is for Yield. Yield to the program, it works if you work for it. My best thinking brought me to the doors of recovery. My way didn't work. I had to find a new way of living.

Yield to your God's Will for your life.

Y is for Years

We celebrate years of sobriety and it is good to recognize these milestone of recovery. Listening to them tell how they did it inspires me. We must remember that we are sober One Day at a Time.

Y is for Yesterday

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present.

Y is for Yield. Yield not to temptation. Yield to the program, let go and let God.

The Yield sign is yellow and warns us to be cautious. Remember, it is one day at a time program. Just for today, I choose not to use people, places and things. If I yield to one, it can take me back to my drug of choice, or give me a new drug of choice, that is why I have to yield each day into my God's Care.

Y is for You

You are a unique and precious human being, always doing the best you can, always growing in wisdom and love. Your number one responsibility is your own growth and well-being. The better you are to yourself, the better you will be to others.

Y is for Yes. Say "Yes" to the positive and "No" to the negative. Hugs not Drugs. You are worthy of recovery. Say "Yes" to recovery, and "No" to all mind altering substances.

Y is for Yes.

Say Yes to Recovery! Say No to Death. Say Yes to laughter and No to tears. Say Yes to Love and No to Hate. Say Yes to Gratitude and No to Negativity.

Y is for Yellow. Yellow is the sign of caution. We can slip mentally, emotionally, and spiritually before we physically pick up. Be cautious if you are feeling comfortable. Watch for complacency, it may come and grab you by the butt.

Y is for Yesterday. We can't live in the past. Even friends have moved on or passed away. Life changes. We have to grieve our yesteryears and let them go. People come into our life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.

Y is for You. Only you can make the decision as to whether you are an alcoholic or an addict. Only you can made the decision to change, no one else can do it for you. Recovery is a journey that each individual travels for themselves.

Y is for Yellow for Caution. When you recognize the stinking thinking, the triggers that are setting you off... the yellow caution flag comes up. It is our defense mechanism. You use the tools of recovery that you have stay sober.
